The vast expanse of the ocean holds endless wonders—from vibrant coral reefs to ancient shipwrecks. But in some corners of the world, there’s another reason to dive beneath the surface: a journey through underwater museums filled with breathtaking sculptures. These artistic marvels, submerged in waters around the globe, fuse human creativity with nature, transforming into living galleries. Below are eight awe-inspiring underwater statues you may have never known existed.

Christ of the Abyss – Italy & Florida
Christ of the Abyss is a famous submerged bronze statue created by Italian sculptor Guido Galletti in 1954. The original statue can be found beneath the waves in San Fruttuoso Bay, Italy, between Portofino and Camogli. A second casting of this iconic sculpture, standing nine feet tall, was placed underwater off the coast of Key Largo, Florida, in 1965. Located in just 25 feet of water, both statues are popular with divers and symbolize peace and protection for those at sea.
