Walking Palms
Endemic to the rainforests of South America, the walking palm is an unsettling tree that appears to have "legs." Its stilt-like roots allow it to shift position over time, enabling it to "walk" towards sunlight or better soil conditions. While the movement is slow—only a few inches per year—the idea of a tree capable of migration is both fascinating and chilling. Its humanoid-like roots make it one of the most uncanny trees to encounter deep in the jungle.
